Ingredients

Layered drink base
  • 0.25 cup grenadine syrup Use chilled if possible for the cleanest separation.
  • 0.5 cup lemonade, chilled Cold lemonade helps the middle layer stay distinct.
  • 0.25 cup blue raspberry sports drink or blue raspberry lemonade, chilled Keep chilled so it floats as a top layer without bleeding.
  • ice cubes Fill the glass almost to the top for stable layering.
  • maraschino cherries and striped straws for garnish Add only at the end so the layers remain undisturbed.

Method

Build the layered glass
  1. Fill a tall clear glass with ice cubes almost to the top.
  2. Pour grenadine syrup slowly over the ice so it sinks to the bottom as the first layer.
  3. Hold a spoon just above the ice and gently pour the chilled lemonade over the back of the spoon to form a clean middle layer.
  4. Hold the spoon the same way and pour the chilled blue raspberry drink over the back of the spoon to float it as the top layer.
  5. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a striped straw, then serve immediately without stirring.

Notes

For the most vivid separation, make sure all liquids are chilled and pour slowly down the back of a spoon; if the spoon lifts too high or you pour too fast, layers can mix. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 24 hours, but note the layers will blend. Freezing isn’t recommended for layered drinks. Dietary swap: use sugar-free lemonade and a sugar-free blue raspberry drink to reduce added sugar while keeping the same layering method.
