Ingredients

salmon fillets
  • 4 salmon fillets 6 oz each
honey
  • 3 tbsp honey
fresh lime juice
  • 3 tbsp fresh lime juice
lime zest
  • 1 tsp lime zest
garlic
  • 2 clove garlic minced
olive oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
cumin
  • 0.5 tsp cumin
salt
  • 0.25 tsp salt to taste
pepper
  • 0.25 tsp pepper to taste
lime slices
  • 1 lime slices for garnish
fresh cilantro
  • 1 fresh cilantro for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 cast iron skillet

Method

Make honey lime glaze
  1. Whisk honey, fresh lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, olive oil, and cumin until smooth and glossy. The mixture should look pourable and evenly golden-green.
Sear salmon
  1. Season salmon fillets with salt and pepper. Pat lightly so seasoning adheres, then sear in a hot cast iron skillet over medium-high heat for 4 minutes per side until golden and just cooked at the edges.
Glaze and caramelize
  1. Pour honey lime sauce into the pan and let it bubble and caramelize around the salmon while you baste the top for 2–3 minutes. Watch for a translucent golden-green glaze with slightly charred, lime-kissed edges.
Finish
  1. Transfer salmon to plates and garnish with lime slices and fresh cilantro. Serve right away while the glaze is shiny and lightly reduced.

Notes

Pro tip: keep the heat at medium-high so the glaze bubbles quickly and turns translucent golden-green instead of staying runny. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container up to 2 days; rewarm gently to avoid drying the salmon. Freezing is not recommended for best glaze texture. For a dairy-free swap, keep it as-is; for a lower-sugar option, use a sugar-free honey substitute if you prefer.
